How to Make 2010 the Year That Your Diet Succeeds

How to Make 2010 the Year That Your Diet Succeeds

A shocking two thirds of American adults are overweight or obese, and most other countries see similar figures. Given that, there’s a good chance that you might be carrying some extra pounds which you want to shed.

Perhaps you’ve been on diets before, but they’ve never lasted more than a few days. You probably know how to eat more healthily, but you struggle to find the motivation, the energy or the time to actually do it.

If your New Year’s Resolutions have included “lose weight” every January for years and years, it’s time to make sure that 2010 is the year when your diet really does succeed. Here’s how:

  1. Get Determined
First off, do you really want to lose weight? Most successful dieters trace the start of their diet to a specific “aha” moment when something clicked for them. I was overweight for six or seven years – despite attempting a few half-hearted and short-lived diets – and it was only when I realized that I wanted to lose weight for me that I finally found the motivation to succeed.Write down a list of reasons why you want to lose weight. Be honest! “Attract hot chicks” or “fit into my skinny jeans” might just be the reason that does it for you. “Live an extra ten years” can seem remote to many of us.
  2. Get Specific
How often have you told yourself something like, “I’m going to eat more healthily” or “I’m going to lose weight” or “I really should exercise more”? All of these are great ideas – the problem is, there’s nothing specific about them. If you ever talk to a life coach or personal development expert about goals, they’ll emphasize that your plans need to have a specific target. How much weight do you want to lose? (10% of your starting weight is usually a realistic target.) How exactly will you eat more healthily – by having five portions of fruit and veg a day? By cutting out fatty snacks? You can’t keep track of your progress unless you know what you’re aiming for.
  3. Get Real
It’s all too easy to dream up grand plans and goals which simply don’t fit in with your life. If you work long hours, you’re unlikely to have the energy to cook elaborate, super-healthy meals from scratch each night. If you’ve got small children, you may find yourself resisting the urge to polish off their leftovers. And unless you’re very overweight, you’re not going to be able to safely and sustainably lose more than 2lbs per week.It will take you a while to reach your ideal weight – so be realistic about this. Losing weight isn’t a race: building up healthy habits that’ll last a lifetime is much more effective than trying out a new fad diet every week.
  4. Get Writing
One simple trick that helps many dieters to succeed is to keep a food diary. Writing down everything you eat makes you think twice about whether you really need that cookie or that candy bar – and it also helps you get an accurate picture of your progress, and of the times or places when you’re likely to slip up.I’ve kept food diaries in notebooks, as spreadsheets, or using online programs. It doesn’t matter how you keep your diary – the key thing is to fill it in each day and to record everything you eat. Many dieters like to track calories in their food diary, but you may find that simply writing down your meals and snacks is enough.
  5. Get Support
Finally, don’t forget to enlist a support team. An encouraging friend, partner or family member can help you get through the times when you want to give up. Having external accountability is a real boost to your will-power, too. You might find that it helps to buddy up with someone else who is dieting, or who has a similar long-term goal. There are also a whole range of professionals who can offer assistance to dieters. Whether it’s a personal trainer at the gym to keep you on top of your game, or a life coach who helps you integrate your health goals with the rest of your life, expert help can make all the difference.

The Secret of Permanent Weight Loss

the secret of permanent weight loss

The Secret of Permanent Weight Loss

Most people do one of two things when faced with a weight problem. We look for ways to by-pass the problem by looking for quick fix solutions. Alternatively, we repress the problem by trying to ignore it or put the blame on things that we claim are beyond our control such as genetics, hectic schedule etc

Both the above happen because we lack real deep understanding of  “why” we want to achieve a particular weight goal. This “why” is made up of 2 parts namely the utilitarian and the non utilitarian parts. The utilitarian part of weight loss is pretty clear such as looking good, feeling energetic, being healthy and living a long life.

The Non-Utilitarian Part of Weight Loss

The non utilitarian part of weight loss may not be that clear at first. These includes love, truth, compassion and joy. Now most of us would probably be asking what has love, truth, compassion and  joy got to do with sustainable weight loss. Looking at it superficially we probably will not see the relationship but if we take the trouble to find a deeper understanding, things start to become clearer.

Love and Weight Loss

Lets take love for instance. We all know that we cannot give what we do not have and this also applies for love. So we must love ourselves and that means taking care of ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. If deep down we do not genuinely love ourselves, this may become a potential barrier to correct weight loss. The earlier blog on the 4 levels of love elaborates this point well.

Understanding Weight Loss

Truth is another area that is largely neglected because understanding truth requires effort. Henry Ford rightfully pointed out that “thinking is the most difficult task, that is why so few people do it”. There is tremendous benefit in a deep understanding about the truth of correct weight loss because it leads to effortless self-discipline which is sustainable. For example a 1-year-old has to be prevented from sticking his finger into the wall power point because he lacks an understanding of its risk. However an adult displays effortless self-discipline because of deeper understanding of the risks of sticking his finger into the wall power point. The 1-year-old may not like being prevented because it is an externally induced discipline but this is not the case for the adult. The fundamental difference is  externally induced discipline is a form of prison which is usually not sustainable but effortless self-discipline that grows from deep understanding is a form of freedom and is usually sustainable. So if we want to make self-discipline more effortless and therefore more sustainable, spend some time understanding the truth about correct weight loss.

Compassion

If we have compassion than we are able to place ourself in the other person’s position. We can feel the emotional and financial strain that our loved ones may have to go through should our health be compromised due to being overweight. We can feel the sadness that our children feel because we cannot run and play with them.

There is a kind of joy in accomplishing a task through our own effort which no quick fix or repression can ever bring. We start believing and respecting ourself. There is also joy in knowing that by our efforts, we are becoming a source of comfort for our loved ones by being healthy and energetic.

Make a Life, Not a Living

For some of us, just knowing the utilitarian part of why we need to lose weight  is adequate to get into action and maintain them. However for the rest of us knowing the utilitarian and the non utilitarian parts help in moving us to action. The utilitarian part helps us make a living but it is the non utilitarian part that helps us make a life.

Hypnosis Inspires You

Hypnosis inspires in many ways. Hypnosis solves problems or helps you to remember. Hypnosis dulls your perception of pain or enhances feelings of ecstasy.

Most people these days have seen a stage hypnosis show; you have seen people cluck like chickens, or be convinced that they are a super star or that they are walking on the moon. You have seen people suddenly forget their name, or confuse their shoe for a dog. You have seen people have needles threaded through their arms seemingly without noticing what is happening to them. To the observer this all seems quite unbelievable and a little scary; and yet on the other hand it is compellingly inspiring.

You start to ask yourself whether hypnosis could make you lose weight, or stop smoking, or overcome shyness. Surely these must be simple feats when compared with some of the antics which are seen on stage? To go and watch a hypnotist at work on stage is truly inspirational. You can see at first hand the breadth of the possibilities which hypnosis opens up for you. Hypnosis gets you seeing things differently. Hypnosis changes your expectations; and whatever you expect to happen has a strong tendency to materialize.

Hypnosis is inspiring to a person in many different ways. It helps you to have a “light bulb moment” and to truly see things in a different light. If that isn’t inspirational, what is?

You know how annoying it can be when you have forgotten a name and you feel that it should be at the tip of your tongue, but that name just refuses to come forth? After a few minutes you give up your quest to remember, only to find that elusive name pops into your mind thirty minutes or so later.

This is a clear example of how well your mind responds to suggestion. You say to yourself “what is that name?” Whilst you are frustrated and uptight the name remains hidden from your awareness; but as soon as you relax, it just pops into your mind, as if from nowhere. You know that you had consciously given up (in frustrated disgust) and thus the name must have appeared from a different part of your mind – your subconscious. You do see that, don’t you?

So long as you give your subconscious mind a clear instruction and then stop your conscious mind from interfering, your subconscious is very good at problem solving. Hypnosis does just this. Hypnosis provides a state of mind which is naturally designed to problem solve and to be creative. This too is truly inspirational.

Hypnosis works, so long as you allow it to do so. People are often tempted to interfere with the process whereas in reality they need to get out of their own way. Have you ever sat at your computer and clicked on a tab, only to find that there is no immediate response? And then you hit that same tab two or three more times in succession, and then try a few different keys, with the result that a whole host of different screens appear or your computer becomes “locked”? You discover later that if you had just waited for three more seconds, your computer would have done what you had originally asked?

Your computer does indeed reflect the workings of your mind. It works in its own time and gets confused or locks when it is given too many or opposing instructions. But if your instructions are clear and you refrain from impatiently bashing away at every button, your computer miraculously does what you want it to do. So long as you program your computer correctly, and give clear instructions, it will solve incredibly difficult problems and create amazing images. So too will your mind.

If the wrong program is running on your computer you will not achieve what you want. Hypnosis changes programs swiftly and easily and inspires you to achieve your dreams.

Navigate the Holidays: How to Work Around Holiday Festivities

Budget your calories.  If you are hitting up a party or dinner later on, halve your portions the day of the party.  You can slice 300-500 calories off your daily diet and use those at the party.

Stick to the veggie platters.  ***Choose veggies over fruit when possible too.

Stick to protein platters – meat, lettuce wraps, shrimp…avoid the desserts, pastries.  Too many carbs!

Indulge in one vice – if you drink alcohol, no food.  If you want the food, avoid alcohol.

Talk more than eat.  If you are at a party, do more talking and socializing than eating.  If you are at a dinner table, take a bite, strike up a conversation, take a bite and so on.  Also, put your fork down between bites.  This forces you to chew and to wait and to enjoy your food (and company!).

Shrink your plate.  Eat off of a 20 inch dinner plate rather than a 22 inch.   You can elimiate 22% of calories and 18 pounds a year.

Switch your cheat day.  If your cheat day is Sunday, party is Thursday, move the cheat day to Thursday.

Get back on the horse.  If you splurge one night, get back on the diet and exercise horse the next day.l

Burn it off!

H.I.T. The Hot Way To Burn Fat

Now This Is Intense

THE BEST WAY TO BOOST YOUR METABOLISM AND BURN BODY FAT!! WHAT’S MORE INTENSE THAN TRAINING WITH A KETTLEBELL.

“High Intensity Training is the real deal. Exercising intensely will help you lose fat and build fitness faster than other weight loss plan. The benefits of intense exercise have been supported by a series of studies conducted for more than 10 years at Laval University in Canada and recent studies conducted at the University of Virginia under the direction of Art Weltman. These results showed that women who train intensely develop more muscle and lose more fat than women who exercise at lower intensities. People exercising more intensely most much more body fat, even though they exercised for less time than people training at moderate intensities.

Researchers from Duke University led by Dr. Cris Slentz found similar results. The 8-month study showed that people could lose weight through exercise alone without dieting (the average energy intake was slightly more than 2000 calories per day). People who exercised intensely lost much more fat than those who trained moderately. However, even moderate-intensity exercise caused some fat loss. You use more fat as fuel when you exercise slowly but you lose more body fat when exercising intensely. High Intensity training particularly when using interval training (bouts of intense exercise interrupted by rest) increases release of fat from fat cells, fat use for fuel, and increased metabolic rate after exercise more than low- or moderate intensity exercise, so you lose more body fat. Also high intensity exercise decreases appetite more than moderate or low intensity exercises.

Overwhelmingly, research studies showed that intense exercise is best for losing fat and building fitness.”

Healthy Weight Loss Food

Today we are going to talk about healthy weight loss food. How it is important to make sure you are eating healthy weight loss food. So you can lose that weight safely while keeping your body healthy. Organic fruits and vegetables are healthy for your body. Not only will this healthy weight loss food help you lose the weight that you desire to lose. It also boost your immune system to keep your body healthy and rid your body of toxins that make you sick and cause all kinds of disease.

Many women’s magizines which tend to promote all the latest diets which are often based around eating a particular food or food group claiming to be a method of healthy weight loss. A particular ‘restrictive’ healthy weight loss food diet that was favored for a while was the chicken, boiled vegetables, fruit and salad one that did not by any means supply all the daily nutrients our bodies need even though all of the foods were actually healthy.

Of course if you were to follow such a diet for any length of time you would not want to eat chicken again as it becomes boring and then you will rebel against a healthy weight loss food. We all need to vary what we eat but if we avoid foods that are very high in calories (unless you are an athlete or have a highly physical job) and improve your daily activities plus get regular sleep you will be most of the way to losing weight healthily.

Surprisingly, doctors can tell a great deal about how healthy you are from your sleep patterns as many people who are overweight regularly get up in the middle of the night to raid the fridge. For many people, physical exercise gets rid of stress and is also a way to burn off unwanted calories if you are following a healthy weight loss food diet.

The result will be not only weight loss, but better sleep quality and improved general health condition. It is not uncommon for people to criticize themselves during a period of dieting but this is self-destructive and must be avoided as the need for a positive attitude is very important. Often boredom creates problems when dieting especially when someone tries to push themselves too far because they want to lose weight and keep to the same routine. Well, a healthy weight loss food plan involves taking small safe steps so start by brisk walks before you actually jog for example, or go to the swimming pool before you visit the gym. The mistake many people make is becoming impatient; so take your time and get it right from the first. Click Here and Check this out:Get In Shape And Look Great.

Why diets could be feeding you failure..

'Inner Strength' by E.M. Sir (www.emsirart.com)

The average woman in the UK spends 31 years of her life on a diet and six months of each year counting calories; whilst men spend 28 years of their life slimming. Over a tenth of the UK population is currently dieting and the average diet duration is 5 1/2 weeks with 50% of slimmers throwing in the towel due to lack of willpower and 25% giving up because their diet regime leaves them feeling moody and depressed.  Out of 1,446 men and women surveyed in the UK over two-thirds admitted to being unhappy with their bodies and that being slimmer would make them happier. (Ipsos Mori Report commissioned by Laughing Cow Extra Light Diet Jan 24th 2007).

My colleague Andrew Sercombe (Founder and Director of Powerchange) and I have spent some time mulling over the issue of why it is that weight reduction plans usually fail?  The process started when someone I was coaching on the Powerchange GOLD Training Course when asked what she wanted said simply, ‘I want to lose weight.’ I asked her what that would give her and the answer came back, ‘it would make me feel successful’. When asked again (an NLP technique designed to go deeper) what that would give her? she replied that it would give her ‘a sense of purpose’. Without a higher sense of purpose that in turn, informs who we are, forms our beliefs, which directs our behaviour, then impacts on our environment and ultimately controls our everyday actions, we will struggle to function as human beings.

Diet plans and weight loss programmes fail because they acts a siren calls that seduce your attention towards the very things that are imprisoning you instead of redirecting the neurological functions of your mind towards the targets and goals which are healthy for you. In other words … to something better.

Neuroscientists have discovered that the things that you dwell upon psychologically become the overwhelming ‘elephants in the room’ so that you focus more on the things that are damaging to you rather than less.

Micro-analysing miniscule shifts in weight, checking the calorific content of everything that passes your lips, awarding yourself intake points each day to scrupulously follow will lead to obsessional behaviour and complete dependancy. It is no wonder that Weight Watchers is owned by Heinz. Many dieters are caught up in a seasonal, cyclical eating culture that sees them reduce intake at certain times of the year, inspired by Summer Holidays and bikini wearing, reducing after Christmas blow-outs, justifying expensive gym and health club membership, aided and abetted by slimming buddies who cheer them on and share in the humiliation of failure. A failure shared is a failure halved.

Isn’t it better to take control of the psychology that is driving this behaviour than succumb to the societally driven guilt trips that are profiting from it?

We have developed a pilot programme called Powerchange’s SHAPE psychology that we are very excited about. It will move your attention, priorities and thought processes away from food, weight loss, slimming, dress size, and eating … to something better. SHAPE will demonstrate how to shift your attention to higher level motivators and to more worthwhile, more satisfying thoughts and activities. And as you move up, your life – and body – will literally change shape.

When we exert energy and stamina towards achieving a particular goal, our bodies develop around the muscles being used. When we cease that activity our bodies atrophy and weaken. Walking consistently through corn fields using the same paths keeps them clear and useable. When those paths stop being used they clog with weeds and ultimately disappear.

The neurological pathways in your brain are exactly the same. The more you think about food the more you will want it. The more you want food the bigger and better the programmes, incentives and punishments will have to be to control that desire. Battling against something much bigger than you (literally, the ’supersized’ you) will become an ever diminishing endgame that you can never ultimately win. Rather than take part in this unequal struggle and face the loss in self esteem and ultimately despair that it implies, we believe that it is better to harness the innate desire within you to create a new shape for your future, moving towards your ultimate goals as a human being rather than away from the spectre of being overweight. Which is after all, just another definition of you – one that you via former experience or cultural pressure do not (or more truthfully, cannot) accept.

In the process you will discover new priorities and understand where the desire to eat originated. In that understanding lies freedom.

Beneath is a leaflet outlining the Pilot Scheme. If you are serious about change please make contact via roy@powerchange.com

The question ‘What shape are you in?’ is not a superficial one.

Foods to Lose Weight

Myth: Fad diets work for permanent weight loss. Fact: Fad diets are not the best way to lose weight and keep it off. Fad diets often promise quick weight loss or tell you to cut certain foods out of your diet. But diets that strictly limit calories or food choices are hard to follow. Most people quickly get tired of them and regain any lost weight.
Fad diets may be unhealthy because they may not provide all of the nutrients your body needs. Also, losing weight at a very rapid rate (more than 3 pounds a week after the first couple of weeks) may increase your risk for developing gallstones (clusters of solid material in the gallbladder that can be painful).

Diets that provide less than 800 calories per day also could result in heart rhythm abnormalities, which can be fatal.

Nuts are high in calories and fat. However, most nuts contain healthy fats that do not clog arteries. Nuts are also good sources of protein, dietary fiber, and minerals including magnesium and copper.

One-half ounce of mixed nuts has about 84 calories.
Myth: Eating red meat is bad for your health and makes it harder to lose weight.
Fact: Eating lean meat in small amounts can be part of a healthy weight-loss plan. Red meat, pork, chicken, and fish contain some cholesterol and saturated fat (the least healthy kind of fat). They also contain healthy nutrients like protein, iron, and zinc.
Tip: Choose cuts of meat that are lower in fat and trim all visible fat. Also, pay attention to portion size. Three ounces of meat or poultry is the size of a deck of cards. Ciberhealthy
Fact: Low-fat and fat-free milk, yogurt, and cheese are just as nutritious as whole-milk dairy products, but they are lower in fat and calories. They offer protein to build muscles and help organs work properly, and calcium to strengthen bones. Most milk and some yogurt are fortified with vitamin D to help your body use calcium.

How Meditation May Help with Weight Loss

Meditation for correct weight lossMeditation is gaining popularity with times. What most people may not be aware of  is its ability to have a positive impact on weight loss. efforts. Scientific research on the effects of meditation on the brain indicate that meditation helps the rational brain to curb the emotional brain more effectively. The rational brain is also known as the cold system. The emotional brain is our primitive reptilian brain, also known as the hot system.

Some individuals may be helped by counting from 1 to 10 when faced with an emotional impulse. This was elaborated in an earlier article on the reptilian brain.

Counting 1 to 10 may help certain individuals curb an emotional impulse such as eating junk food. A person who meditates will more easily and effectively overcome this emotional impulse. Someone who does not meditate could still use the  technique of counting from 1 to 10  but will require more will power. Meditation may actually increase the ability of the rational brain to more effectively curb the emotional brain.  This means less will power is required to accomplish the same task.

This obviously would lead to better self-discipline as far as compliance to a weight loss program is concerned. When trying to lose weight, one not only needs to curb a negative impulses but also overcome inertia and lethargy to do exercise on a regular interval. Here the emotional brain, which is designed for survival, has to be overcome with will power to take action. Meditation reduces the amount of willpower required. Therefore the chances of success in complying with the exercise requirements are higher.

The emotional brain tries to sabotage any weight loss efforts. Meditation increases clarity of thought of the rational brain. As such one could more clearly recall the reasons as to why they are trying to lose weight in the first place. This will lead to better compliance and better results.

Instead of just hard work, it may make more sense to work smart by incorporating meditation into a weight loss program.

A Photo Fitness Walk

Photo Fitness Scene

I was reminded today of a quote by a successful business man.

“If you settle for less, that’s all you’ll get.”                                                              It’s by J.F. (Jim) Straw.

Allow me tell you what unusual circumstance prompted that quote to enter into my head.

I was driving by a local YMCA. On the side of their building is a little oval walking track, I would guess about 400 yards around. Nothing could be more plain. It’s a corner lot, tall hedge of green on one side, brick building on the other, and street; that’s it. Nothing to see here, as they say. It looks more like an after-thought.

And on the track this day is one woman, dressed in a style that let’s me assume she’s out for a fitness walk. Round and round she goes in an environment that is totally lacking in stimulus.

To me, she’s only getting half a workout.

Just the day before I took my own fitness walk, as usual, with camera in hand. Here’s a photo of what I saw.

Beautiful autumn trees sharing their colors over a quite lake. A gorgeous statue, “3 Sisters,” spraying a wonderful mist of water that reverberated off the lake’s surface like music to my ears.

There were trails that went uphill and trails that went down. Families, and couples, and joggers of one. There were geese resting in the sun and squirrels frantically preparing for winter. This place was alive with everything a body needs to be truly fit – body, mind and soul.

And it was only a ten minute drive from that desolate track where she walked round and round.

Little changes can often  make a big difference. “But if you settle for less, that’s all you ‘ll get.”

Going for a walk with my camera in hand, almost forces me to find someplace to walk that offers additional stimulus for my body, mind and soul. And every excursion is successful. I see something I have never seen before. And because I have my camera I can share it with others. How much better my experience becomes for making that one simple change – bring your camera. Don’t you settle for less.

Exercise Vs Diet

The best way to lose weight and have fun is by using your WII if you have not invested in the WII fit you are really missing out and you could be doing so much more. This little game system is a great way to involve your whole family in learning to get rid of fat and helping your body burn more calories. We play our WII everyday as a family and it is so much fun. You don’t have to have the WII fit but that is a really good way to learn how to do exercises and it tells you if you’re doing it wrong or right and how to improve your help it really is an awesome investment that will help the whole family because even if you just use it to play the games your still using your body to move and fight and do what the game tells you to do so your still moving which is the important part of learning to exercise so do yourself and your family the favor and invest in a WII and get yourself moving and having fun as a family it really will change your life and your families

When using a diet, it allows you to focus more on controlling your intake of foods giving you the structure and discipline needed to lose weight. Also maintaining healthy eating habits with a fat burning diet has shown to be much easier than maintaining an exercise regimen. The reason for this is with quick weight loss diet, you are only altering your eating habits while exercise is a new habit in and of its self that must be created in most cases. The counter that exercise provides according to more recent studies is that those who choose exercise seem to reach their long term goals. Studies have show that participants that used various methods of exercise were shown to maintain their results over a longer period of time than those that have changed their dieting regimens. This leads many to believe that exercise enables one to lose weight and better maintain the results where as a quick weight loss diet has a quicker rate of weight loss but does not maintain the results as effectively as exercise. In conclusion, it would see that exercise and diet both have distinct advantages or one another. Using a fat burning diet or a method of exercise can do wonders for weight loss. The question of which would be more beneficial would be dependent on the one choosing the workout plan or quick weight loss diet.If Want to Watch Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos Live Streaming,Click Here Watch Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos Live Stream

‘Alternate-day’ fasting the best bet to fight flab

BETTER STAY ON DIET: Mat exercises to get rid of abdomen flab are very easy to do, but care has to be taken that the back is not hurt.

Alternate-day fasting can be the right way lose weight and boost cardio-vascular health, experts from University of Illinois at Chicago have suggested.

The conclusion was reached after observing 16 obese people-12 women and four men- who ordained to a 10-week trial of not eating any food every alternate day.

The age group of the studied people was around 35-65, while their weight was more than 210 pounds each.

Also, they had kept their weight stable for the previous three months, and had body mass indexes of between 30 and 39.9. Attention was given that none was diabetic, had a history of cardiovascular disease, was taking weight-loss or lipid- or glucose-lowering medications, or smoked.

The study was divided into three different phases. The first two weeks, participants ate and exercised normally.

While, between weeks three and six, participants ate normal meals one day then would fast the next. On fast days, participants ate the equivalent of a three-course lunch prepared by UIC’s Human Nutritional Research Center. The meal provided between 20 and 25 percent of daily energy needs.

However, in the final four weeks, participants chose on their own what to eat, based on what they had learned about meal sizes and food choices.

Krista Varady, Assistant Professor of Kinesiology and Nutrition, who led the UIC research team, said: “We wanted to see if they could actually do it by themselves – because what’s the point of studying this diet if you have to feed people meals prepared at metabolic kitchens all the time?” Researchers noted that weight loss ranged from 10 to 30 pounds; the researchers expected an average loss of only five pounds. To add to it, blood pressure and heart rate were lowered, along with total cholesterol and circulating fat levels.

Varady also said: “Why are some able to do it but others not? It takes about two weeks to adjust to the diet, after which people don’t feel hungry on the fast day.”

“We need to find out how long they can stay on this diet – and if they go off it, do they automatically regain the weight?” Varady added. The study was published in the November 1 issue of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Laurel Fitness Boot Camp – A Surefire Way To Get Fit

Hi Valentina,
I'm 16 years old and 6 months ago I was three stone overweight, after watching Alan's videos i found the will power and strength within myself to not only lose weight, but to change my life.
How To Lose Weight Using Weight Loss Hypnosis – Chapter 5. Thank you for this wonderful approach.
You say that the beach, running, and music will hopefully change your earlier needs for sugar. They may, but I'm not sure that will happen simply because things are usually a lot more complicated than they seem, and you are trying to deal with an unconscious behavior at a conscious level.
these video's really helpt me be aware of my reason's to eat..

When you go on diet and fail to take enough water, your body goes in a distress mode and starts to retain water in some not so cute areas. This increases the overall weight in your body and it may make you deflated to realize little gains in weight loss. So water retention in your body is the first thing you have to get rid of and to do that you need to take more and more water. Lose weight diet Plan Tips # 8: Work out or do some Exercise To lose weight fast, you can decide to go either the diet plan way or the workout way. Losing weight through exercising achieves faster results and also burns fat into lean muscle. The best way to lose weight naturally however is to combine exercises and a good diet plan. Exercising also reduces the chance of developing muscular atrophy and keeps your body air and blood circulation in top form.

Obesity will soon become the main cause of cirrhosis of the liver

The Guardian reports that obesity will soon cause more liver damage than alcohol does, according to Professor Christopher Hawkey, president of the British Society of Gastroenterology. He predicts that obesity will increase the risks of a number of cancers and of hip and knee surgery.

I agree with his concern about the deleterious effects of obesity on health. I disagree with what he blames for increasing obesity. He appears to blame “binge-eating”, “comfort-eating” and “overeating”, whereas I blame:
1) the reckless over-prescribing of pharmaceutical drugs that cause sodium and water retention and salt sensitivity
2) the food industry’s deplorable over-salting of most of the food it sells – processed foods, bread, ready meals, etc
3) DIETING – caused by misinformation and harmful advice from ill-informed obesity experts, the medical profession, nutritionists and the dieting industry.

Obesity is not caused by overeating. Obesity is caused by fluid retention in people who are sensitive to salt. – It is as simple, and as profoundly complex, as that.

Lose weight, reduce your risk of most cancers, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, heart attack, vascular dementia, stroke, osteopenia, osteoporosis, hypercholesterolaemia, depression, liver damage and kidney problems, and improve your health in many other ways without drugs, hunger or expense by eating less salt! – Try it! – You will feel so much better! Food Mistakes Everyone Makes

You diligently read health reports and you honestly and tenaciously try to eat healthy, keep up with the latest diet trends, and make the smartest choices to lose weight–but are they as healthy as you think? Here’s a reality check:

You reach for multigrain bread or cereal

Foods labeled 7-grain or multigrain may seem like the healthiest choices–especially with new findings showing that a diet rich in whole grains protects against heart disease, cancer, and other ills.

To be sure you’re getting the grains you want, check the ingredients panel. Whole grains should be the first or second ingredient listed. Luckily, finding whole grain products is easier now that manufacturers supplying at least 16 g of whole grains per serving – what’s considered an excellent source – are stamping their packaging with the Whole Grains Council’s logo.

You buy bottled water laced with vitamins

It’s a measure of how health conscious we’ve become that water is now fortified with nutrients and even medicinal herbs. But when it comes to so-called enhanced water, I suggest you save your money.

A smarter move is to drink plain, refreshing, calorie-free water when you’re thirsty and take a multivitamin daily to make sure you get balanced levels of the essential vitamins and minerals.

You choose veggie chips over potato chips

Dozens of munchies are made from carrots, spinach, kale, and even exotic tropical vegetables. Many of these seemingly healthful snacks are still loaded with calories: A 4-ounce bag of Hain Carrot Chips contains 600 calories, just as much as Lay’s Classic potato chips.

When you simply must have chips, look for brands with vegetables at the top of the ingredients list. A tip-off to a snack’s healthfulness is its fiber content. If you’re counting calories, baked potato chips – at 110 calories per serving – are a better choice. An even healthier alternative? A handful of nuts, loaded with fiber, healthy oils, and vitamins and minerals.

Check back tomorrow for some more tips.

Fastest Way To Lose Weight In A Week

Extra pounds are something that entirely too many of us carry around. Weight gain is caused by a number of different factors, some genetic, some environmental. The fact is that sometimes we feel a need to lose weight quickly. This article describes three plans that can significantly help you lose weight in a week.

Water makes up more than three quarters of our body mass. Therefore, we need a great amount of water to sustain our bodies. Our bodies have evolved to the point where we store up this water in case we need it. The majority of people carry around 5-8 excess pounds of water weight. By just drinking more water, you can lose those extra pounds within a week. If you drink around a gallon of water per day, your body will be fooled into thinking that it no longer has to retain water, and you will be able to eliminate the excess fluid.

The second plan to lose weight in a week is to change the diet to one that is completely comprised of fruits and vegetables. Leafy green salads, steamed vegetables, and fruit will give you large amounts of food with very few calories. You’ll feel full with fewer calories, and you’ll get the added benefit of increased fiber. This will serve to clean the bowel and eliminate a large volume of excess waste that most of us carry around inside us because we do not eat right.

The third plan to lose weight in a week is a combination of the first two methods. If you both drink more water and eat more vegetables, you can lose weight quickly. You can supplement that diet with a reasonable portion of fish and poultry, as well as grains, for carbs and protein that your body needs. For successful weight loss, our bodies need carbohydrates, which convert to fuel that the body burns, added to a reduced caloric intake.

This third plan may prove slightly slower than other weight loss options, but it does include a more balanced approach to changing the diet that makes it possible to continue to receive the needed nutrients to keep the body going while reducing the number of calories one consumes to a level that is lower than the number of calories burned each day.

If you follow a balanced plan, you can lose an average of 8 to 20 pounds in a single week. Assuming of course that your body has that much extra weight to lose. Since that is true for most people, that weight loss target is quite possible.

Healthy Homemade Chili (hCG Diet Friendly Too)

Here’s a recipe that I created last night. This was so tasty! I served it with a small green salad.

Makes 4 servings.

Facts About Drinking Water: Beyond H2O Tips For Your Health and Wellness

Here are some incredible quotes from reputable sources regarding drinking water facts and fiction brought to you by Beyond H2O…

“Because most food contains a large amount of water, you obtain approximately 3 1/2 cups from what is eaten over the course of a day. Interestingly, the body’s metabolism itself is another source, since — as it makes and uses energy — one of its daily byproducts is about 1/2 cup of water. So, if you add up your losses (two cups for the lungs, two for sweating, and six for the intestines and kidneys), you come up with a total loss of ten cups … not counting any excess lost through perspiration during exercise. Therefore, taking into account the approximately four cups provided by food and metabolism, the average person needs to drink six to eight cups of water daily just to keep functioning well.”

– Mother Earth News

“Drinks containing concentrated nutrients, such as milk, sugar-sweetened soft drinks, and salty tomato-based juices, count more as food than drink since they themselves increase your body’s water needs.”

– N.Y. Times Guide to Personal Health

“A reduction of 4-5% in body water will result in a decline of 20-30% in work performance.”

– N.Y. Times Guide to Personal Health

“An athlete commonly loses four or five quarts (of water) in a practice session.”

– “Realities of Nutrition”

The connection between chlorinated tap water and serious health problems such as cancer and heart disease may be clearer than advertised. Read this important article on “Chlorine and Cancer.”

How to use a buffet to lose weight!

You may be wondering as I did when I thought through this article, how do you do that?

You see only the other night eating out with some friends, one of the blokes said to me, “You better make sure you go back and get seconds, you will want to get your moneys worth!” I thought, why is it that people have the perception that if you are allowed to eat as much as you want that you will?

I originally was going to have a steak dinner for $14 and asked the waitress if I could substitute vegetables for the chips. She said that would cost an extra $7 so that was only $2 cheaper than the buffet which gave me greater choice of foods. I ended up getting the vegetables I wanted plus a spring roll. The point is, I didnt think I had to eat 2, 3 or more platefuls. I just wanted to enjoy my meal and have a nutritious option.

Here are three tips to enjoying a buffet.

  • Stick to water as the carbonated drink will fill you up quickly and you will feel to full.
  •  Make your first choice the healthiest option.. ie. salads, vegetables, roast etc
  •  Once you are finished your first plate consider whether you want dessert or not and wait 5 minutes.

If you dont want dessert you have the option to get a second plate or you may be satisfied from one plate and therefore you wont overindulge. There is nothing worse than that feeling of being overfull.

Remember just because you are paying $20+ doesnt mean you have to have multiple plates. That after all is a standard price for one plate of decent food in most restaurants,

Enjoy your food, dont deprive yourself but be accountable to your goals (fat loss, health, example to others, etc.)

Question: Many diets say no carbs, but I can’t stick to anything with no carbs. Any advice?

Answer: Yes. Stop listening to diets that tell you no carbs. They’ll end up making you eat carbs out of the garbage! I eat carbs every day. Yesterday I had cereal for breakfast, squash soup, and a bagel for lunch. That’s all carbs! Then I had steak for dinner. When I tried to stop eating carbs I gained a ton of weight by cheating on carbs after I ate all the no carb foods! When I satisfied my cravings, I lost weight. The key to weight loss is structuring the foods you crave; healthy and not so healthy at times.

Checkin' Myself into to Food Jail...

OK, so today I got on the scale…then immediately went online and rejoined Weight Watchers.

Deja vu. This is almost an exact repeat of about five years ago, when the scale indicated the same exact weight as today’s offending numbers. Panic time…

Last time, I lost over 35 pounds on Weight Watchers, but it took me about 1 year to do it because I ignored the exercise part. I lost the last ten pounds opening Malia’s Mug. And despite being around food at the restaurant all morning, day, and night, I kept the weight off the whole time the beloved Mug was alive. (Probably something to do with running around like a chicken sans head all day… and stress…)

After the death of The Mug, the stress certainly stayed, but I’ve been spending my days sitting in front of a computer nearly 15 hours a day. Not so good – the lubs have sneaked back.

Actually, with Weight Watchers, it’s not really “food jail” – just more like “food purgatory”. For those of you not familiar with the WW “Points” system, all foods “cost” a certain number of points, and you’re allowed a certain number of points per day (my allotment is a mere 21).

Doing the other plans would be “food jail”. That’s when you can eat as much food as you want, as long it’s on the approved list. That list contains things like beets and cabbage. No spank you.

So as I relearn the system, I expect my mind’s eye to start superimposing those number values on every food that crosses my path for the next several months. Here we go…! Weeee!

Dr Suzanne Gudakunst created this weight loss program which explains why so many people fail to lose weight successfully. This is my Review of the Top Secret Fat Loss program. This program approaches the subject of fat loss in a way that explains why losing fat can be so difficult. This is an approach that is often ignored by many other programs. What I liked about the Top Secret Fat Loss program is that it actually focuses on the cause of the problem, and not just on the symptoms, which is carrying excessive fat. It seems to make, Project, sense that if you can pinpoint the real cause and take steps to remove it, then there will be no symptoms. After going through this program, I have to say that I was pretty impressed with the information contained. You will now learn through this Top Secret Fat Loss Review, what I have learned through this program. The human body is one big defence mechanism. It very nature is to protect itself from attack. It does this through the immune system, by eradicating any potential harmful bacteria and substances entering the body.Problems start to surface when the resources of the immune system become so stretched that it can no longer function in the way that it was created to. You may not be aware of this but you are poisoning your body on a daily basis. These toxins come from various sources. The chemicals that are in your food. The chemicals you come into contact with when you are cleaning your house. The high levels of meat that the modern diet consists of. The pollution that you breath. All these factors put a huge strain on your immune system. This results in the body not working effectively. This leads to disease and other health problems. The body’s abilities to burn fat effectively are also reduced, and this is why so many people are struggling with their weight. The truth is that most of us carrying large amounts of toxic waste in our bodies. This waste has probably been stuck in our bodies for a number of years. The bad news is that this waste is a feeding ground for parasites and bad bacteria. While this situation is present, your body finds it impossible to lose weight successfully or to keep you in optimum health. The Top Secret Fat Loss program, explains in great detail what is going on in your body. You will learn the exact steps to take in order to start eliminating this disgusting waste, and to get your body to start working in the way that it was meant to work. The program claims that once you start to relinquish this waste, you will start to see significant benefits in your health. You will increase our levels of energy. You will find it easier to shift excessive fat. Your skin, hair, and nails will look much better. The information in this program is quite scary, but it does fall in line with other research that I have seen. I highly recommend that you take a closer look at this program for yourself. What you will learn will probably shock you. Will the program work for you? It has had some great feedback off people that have used it, and I can honestly say that, Project, everyone should be looking at a program such as this, regardless of their current situation. This ends the review of the Top Secret Fat Loss program

When you decide that it’s time to lose weight, you will most likely start looking at the various diet programs available. Unfortunately, the number of programs out there can be quite overwhelming – to the point where you don’t know where to start, and therefore never really, Project, get started. Are you ready to learn the truth about diet programs? The truth is that no matter whichever plan you select, you will lose weight if you stick to the program. No matter how you look at it, weight loss is a direct result of taking in fewer calories than your body is using up during the day. If you are doing that – no matter what the program is called – you will lose weight. If you don’t lose weight by taking in fewer calories than you are using up, you most likely have a health problem that is preventing weight loss, and you will need to see your doctor to determine what that problem is.You can release pounds without a prescribed weight loss strategy, providing that there are no underlying health problems, if you stick to the formula of consuming fewer calories than you are using. However, some people are better able to stick with, Project, it if there is a program that they are following. If this is your case, research the various programs that are available, and select a program that you feel will be easier to follow. Again, if you follow the program you will release extra pounds, and the only way to fail is to not follow the program, or to only follow the diet program every once in a while, as opposed to following it every single day.

The 5 Keys to Stress Relief

Do you remember the last time you were so absorbed in a suspenseful movie or masterful novel that the rest of the world dropped away? For most of us, it’s even easier to get caught up in our own stories, interpretations, and emotions – becoming so identified with a mood that it completely colors our worldview.

Consider this common scenario: You’re at work when your manager calls and asks to immediately see you in her office. Depending on your typical thought process, you may immediately begin to worry, “What did I do wrong? I wonder if my job is on the line . . . if I get fired, it could take a long time to find work in this economy.” Your dread builds and you really don’t want to go see your manager.

Or (particularly if your predominant dosha is Pitta), you may find yourself getting angry, thinking, “After all the work I’ve put in, I’m not putting up with any criticism. This company is lucky to have me here.” You head towards your manager’s office feeling belligerent and ready to defend yourself.

The 10-Ton Thought
Whether you react in fear or in anger, the thoughts in your mind create stress in your body. Your heart beats faster, your blood pressure rises, your breath becomes shallow, your adrenalin surges, and you produce higher levels of cortisol. Your ancient fight-or-flight response is gearing up, but no woolly mammoths are roaming through the office ― “just” thoughts convincing you that your survival is at stake.

While your thoughts may seem wispy in comparison with a hungry, hairy predator, they clearly have immense power. Something happens that violates your sense of how things should be, and you perceive danger, whether real or imagined. Numerous studies show that chronic stress accelerates aging and makes you more likely to develop a serious illness, including heart disease, stomach ulcers, autoimmune diseases, cancer, insomnia, migraine headaches, panic attacks, anxiety, and depression.

Choices that Relieve Stress
Fortunately, there are many valuable practices that can help you go beyond the primal fight-or-flight response. You can learn to experience a restful response ― a mind-body state that is as natural as the stress response, but infinitely more peaceful and healing.

1. Connect to Your Body. While the mind is constantly flitting to thoughts of the future and memories of the past, the body lives in the only moment that truly exists: the present. One of the best ways to relieve stress is to go out of your mind and tune in to your body. Allow yourself to feel all your bodily sensations, including ones that your mind might label unpleasant, such as tightness in your jaw, churning in your stomach, or stiffness in your neck. Your body never doubts itself and it will guide you toward the most evolutionary choices. This guided meditation podcast by davidji will help you tune in to your body’s wisdom and release stress.

2. Meditate. Meditation gives you access to the inner silence and calm that lies beneath the mind’s noisy internal dialogue. Meditation allows you to experience profound relaxation that dissolves fatigue and long-standing stresses. Studies have found that a daily meditation practice can lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, decrease anxiety and depression, and reverse the biological markers of aging.
Given the numerous healing benefits of meditation, the Chopra Center offers instruction in Primordial Sound Meditation at all of our programs and events. In addition, there are certified Primordial Sound Meditation teachers throughout the world. Click here to find one in your area

3. Understand Your Unique Stress Response. Your mind-body constitution (known as your dosha) plays a great role in how stress affects you. Here are the stress patterns of the three main doshas:
Vata: Those with predominantly Vata constitutions have the greatest tendency toward anxiety and worry. Normally creative and enthusiastic, in the face of stress, Vatas tend to blame themselves for their problems and become extremely nervous and scattered.
Pitta: Pitta types are usually warm and loving, but if they’re out of balance, typically react to stress by finding fault with other people and becoming angry.
Kapha: The most even-tempered dosha is Kapha. Kapha types are usually easygoing and gentle, but when faced with overwhelming conflict or stress, they may withdraw and refuse to deal with the situation.
Ayurveda offers specific recommendations for each mind-body type, including the most effective ways to cope with stress. Take the dosha quiz here to identify your mind-body type and learn more healing techniques.

4. Practice Yoga. Yoga is another timeless healing practice for releasing stress and the damaging effects of the fight-or-flight response. Not only is yoga an excellent physical exercise that increases your flexibility and strength, but it also balances the mind and body, calming the nervous system, increasing the production of stress-relieving hormones, and releasing stored toxins.
With a regular practice, you begin to experience a sense of calm and wellbeing that extends beyond the yoga mat into your daily life. You gradually stop dwelling on stressful thoughts and feel more lighthearted and joyful, even in the face of life’s inevitable upsets and disappointments.

5. Learn the Skills of Conscious Communication. When we aren’t able to clearly communicate our needs, we experience a lot of stress and frustration in our lives. Fortunately, conscious communication isn’t an inborn gift but a learnable skill. With practice, you can learn to express your needs, ask for what you want, and create more fulfilling relationships. The skills of conscious communication are a vital component of the Chopra Center’s Perfect Health program and our emotional healing workshop, Free to Love, Free to Heal. Click here to learn a powerful conscious communication technique that you can begin using right now.

To paraphrase the master teacher Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, life sometimes feels like one insult after another. Still the goal isn’t to try to control the flow of life so that we’ll never experience stress or frustration again; the secret lies instead in giving ourselves a great deal of patience and compassion as we learn to befriend our mind. No matter how long we’ve been stuck in habitual thought patterns, we can learn to remain peaceful and joyful even when life is stressful.

Eat and Think Your Way Thin

Exercise is only half of the equation; what you eat is the other half. Your attitude towards food can either make or break your weight loss regime. Follow these simple rules to lose unwanted fat.

The Way to Eat

Eat Monounsaturated fats (MUFAs for short) come from the healthy oils found in plant foods such as olives, nuts, and avocado. Include a MUFA at every meal. Incorporate a serving of one MUFA-rich food every time you eat.

Have a clear calorie goal. Consume four 400-calorie meals a day. Significant weight loss requires calorie control. For the average woman, 1,600 calories per day is ideal because it’s low enough to create weight loss while maintaining energy and preserving calorie-burning muscle.

The Way to Think

Manage stress. This emotion causes a spike in the hunger-stimulating hormone cortisol, sending you straight for the sweets. And when cortisol is high, extra calories are deposited directly as belly fat.

Ask for help. Among people who have permanent weight loss, 70% reported having strong social support, compared with only 38% of those who lost and regained weight. Recruit others to join you (or encourage you), or sign up for an online support group.

Beat emotional eating -keep a food diary, but don’t just record what and how much you eat. Journaling about your feelings can help you identify what triggers you to eat and why, so you can break unhealthy habits for good.

Raise your standards

A piece of criticism I often get is that I expect too much and that my standards are too high. Maybe this is what “Type A” personalities can achieve but for the “average person,” it is just too hard.

This is really amusing to me as I am in the same shoes as you are! I have get up at 5:00 am to start my first session at 6:00 am and many times, I finish with clients at 9:00 pm. In between sessions, there are meetings to attend, blogs to be written, new programs to develop and follow-up calls to be made. I am in the same position as everyone else.

Today, in my thirties, I have not gained body weight, eat foods that are enzyme rich, and focus on foods that provide nutrients that keep me moving through long working days. And if I don’t have time to play sports or work out outside, I work out at home .

“Stefan, you are insane”, you might be thinking, “Why would I want to do this now? Let me tell you: My clients in their 50’s, 60’s and even 70’s know how to stay youthtful, slender and athletic. The ones who have managed to stay this way all stick to high standards on how they treat themselves.

A low standard is to give in to desserts, skipping workouts, not keeping up with research on diet and exercise and basically, not caring about yourself.  Letting yourself go. Your business, your relationships, your family or your injuries might be obstacles, holding you back from activity. Yes, that might be what you tell yourself–but I honestly don’t believe it. And how about just eating what ever comes along? Stuffing your face with junk?. Stop living by such low standards. Don’t  give in your “good is good enough” rationale. Because no,  it isn’t good enough. Expect the best and receive the best. Demand it.

The only question that matters in (re)-setting your standards is this: Are you doing your best? If the answer is yes, then there is nothing to worry about.

Feel good about yourself by raising your standards and following them. And don’t measure yourself against others. The measurement should only  be against yourself: Where you started and where you want to be.

Learn the consequences of your food choices and then take full responsibility (instead of making excuses!). Recognize the impact of inactivity and take full responsibility when health issues arise later in life. Awareness is a skill that can be learned.

If you are looking to change your body, loss weight, shape your frame or changing your eating habits, just raise your standards. Live up to it. Don’t back down. And stick with what your new set standards are.

Make your body your business.

Stefan

First step - getting rid of soda

Weigh in – 184 pounds. Still bad.

I decided I am going to do this one step at a time and my first thing is drinking water. Everybody talks about it and since I don’t have it in me to revamp all the contents in my kitchen just yet – I decided to do this one thing.

I drink a few sodas a day. Diet and regular alike. You name it, I like it. I drink Dr. Pepper, Coke, Diet Dr. Pepper, Pepsi One. They’re all bad I know. I’ve heard it time and time again that even though you drink zero calorie diet drinks, it’s the sodium that gets you. Makes you retain water.

So I got rid of the soda, I’m going to try saving a few dollars – and just not buy it.

I have a liter of water in front of me, and I’m determined to drink it today.

We’ll see it how it goes.

My khakis are tight. I hate how I feel, how I look. Everything.

Lose Weight and Feel Great!

We all want to lose weight and feel great. But how can we make our desire a reality? One reason why people don’t lose weight is because they think that they are doing enough exercise when they actually are not reaching the necessary calorie burn level. Major lifestyle changes require upheaval from normal routines. It is important for your entire body to exercise regularly. With regards to eating, diets based on nutritious foods with similar calories, but with the ratio of fat, carbohydrates, and protein varied by food group, seem to be the most successful. Food items are grouped together, allowing you to glance at the calorie count of a meal you’re creating from fresh ingredients.

Keep in mind that eating foods without carbohydrates, skipping fats, adding more protein, or consuming only good fats can lead to weight loss. Make sure you understand that you’ll do more damage to your diet efforts by skipping meals. Foods that are high in fat and sugar are not good for a successful diet strategy. The critical time to intervene to prevent the development of obesity is during the pre-school years and in early adolescence.

Fat camps are expensive, and often are not covered by insurance. As gratifying as this accomplishment is, often following bariatric surgery and resulting weight loss, skin does not shrink to firmly fit the new, smaller frame. You must keep watching your weight. If possible, stick to your diet. Fat plays a critical role in many of the processes our bodies go through each and every day. With the increased popularity of bariatric surgery procedures such as Lap-Band surgery and gastric bypass surgery, there are many alternatives. Despite this, you can have a healthy lifestyle and maintain a lean body.

Abdominal fat cells may also affect the healthy functioning of the liver. So, if you are carrying any extra fat, your body begins to produce an immune response similar to the reaction your body exhibits when you develop the flu or have an injury. While static stretching is good for muscle tension, it may not be best for an athlete where more power and speed is necessary.

Here are a few suggestions to help you be a healthy role model for your kids: Practice portion control—whether it’s in a restaurant or at home, check out the food on your plate and consider that your stomach is only about the size of your fist. Within a few months, lose 40 pounds and get your blood sugar levels down. Fat cells are critical for survival and help assist the body’s energy system. There are many different obstacles and challenges in weight loss, some of them of which are out of your control. As gratifying as this accomplishment is, often following bariatric surgery and resulting weight loss, skin does not shrink to firmly fit the new, smaller frame. The best thing to do when trying to lose weight is to drink water, and lots of it. Check out established groups. The real goal is to lose weight and never gain it back.

Surgery to correct the effects of significant weight loss by performing a variety of body contouring procedures including liposuction, tummy tucks, arm lifts, and breast lifts. When estrogen levels are too high, testosterone levels are reduced, and many men experience fatigue, muscle tone loss, decreased sexual function, and in some cases, enlarged prostates. The following among family, friends, acquaintances, and former nutrition clients including a diabetic lady who has received diabetes counseling.

Educate your whole family—a book or a class on food and nutrition will help you stay on track. There has been debate on whether or not static stretching before exercise is beneficial. A sure thing for any healthy diet. While science offers us much, we need to be aware not all studies are accurate or useful. Fat cells within the abdomen are metabolically more active than fat cells located in other areas of the body. The nutritional data of foods based on the weight of their components rather than serving size. You don’t have as much because that hunger has diminished. But when you gain weight, estrogen levels rise and other health problems occur. Given the growing problem with childhood obesity in many western societies, these findings are particularly important.

Don't Overdramatize Exercise

I’m here to tell you that including exercise as a part of your diet can be very dramatic but at the same time I ask you to save the drama for your mama. The words exercise and excuse both start with an “e” but they won’t give you the same results. If you are anything like me you hate the pain of exercise, but as it has been so eloquently stated in the past, “No pain; no gain.” In the weight loss arena pain equals gain because the pain of exercise can gain you a loss, weight loss that is.

Exercise is vital part of a weight loss program and living a healthy life but it isn’t easy. The hardest part is getting started and the second hardest part is keeping it up. Exercise not only improves your health but it is a great weight loss aid helping you to burn off the calories that want so badly to become another pound of fat on your body. You need to develop a mental vendetta against fat accumulation. When you exercise you go to war against calories that have a sole purpose of making you gain weight.

I know it is difficult to get in a regular exercise routine but it doesn’t have to be drama. All you need to do is to find easy ways to insert life-changing, fat-altering exercise into your daily or weekly routine. This can be a very dramatic change but the key is to not overdramatize it. If you already exercise on a regular basis that is great, and if you increase your exercise it can help you lose more weight by burning additional fat.

Here are some ways to start exercising without the drama and to increase exercise for those who already have a regular exercise plan:

  • Use regular everyday activities like climbing stairs to get exercise. If you live in a two story house make it a point to go up and down the stairs a certain amount of times.
  • When you go to work or school, park far away from the building so you will get some additional exercise by walking.
  • When you get home in the evening, make it a point to take a few laps around the block. If you have kids involve them and take them on the walk with you. Don’t procrastinate but do this as soon as you get home while you still have energy.
  • If you work or go to school near a Wal-Mart or other large store pack a pair of tennis shoes with you to work or school and on your break or lunch hour put the tennis on and walk the large isles and outer perimeters of the isles inside the store for 30 minutes to burn calories that will help you lose weight.
  • Try doing small amounts of exercise throughout the day like ten sit-ups or leg-lifts at a time.
  • Get a real bike and ride it. It is a lot more fun than an exercise bike and will get you some fresh air and fun at the same time.

Regardless of what your lifestyle is, there is a way to incorporate exercise in an easy way that will not add drama to your life. Sometimes we get so caught up in the drama of exercise we simply don’t do it when it can simply benefit us.

Beyond H2O Tip: How Do You Know If You're Dehydrated?

If you are thirsty, it means your cells are already dehydrated. A dry mouth should be regarded as the last outward sign of dehydration. That’s because thirst does not develop until body fluids are depleted well bellow levels required for optimal functioning.

Monitor your urine to make sure you are not dehydrated:
A hydrated body produces clear, colorless urine.
A somewhat dehydrated body produces yellow urine.
A severely dehydrated body produces orange or dark-colored urine.

The effects of even mild dehydration include decreased coordination, fatigue, dry skin, decreased urine output, dry mucous membranes in the mouth and nose, blood pressure changes and impairment of judgment. Stress, headache, back pain, allergies, asthma, high blood pressure and many degenerative health problems are the result of UCD (Unintentional Chronic Dehydration).

Beyond H2O delivers up to 4x faster hydration than other water helping your body maintain proper balance. Is it the right choice for you? You decide.
