“There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.”
- Douglas H. Everett
I haven’t written here in quite a while. I mean to, but my mind swirls with so much stuff that I get overwhelmed. I am constanly engrossed in something and it gets exhausting. By the time I am ready to think about writing, I sit down, look at my screen, and promptly lock up.
Anyhow, it takes a special mood for me to be able to blog; it’s usually either a need to vent, or some new optimistic undertaking I’m excited about. Today it is the latter, and has to do with my health/weight.
In November 2007, I paid about $500 to buy my starter package to be able to sell a product I discovered the summer before called “Power of 3″. Mostly, I wanted to be able to buy it cheaper but I wanted to be able to eventually make some money, too. Power of 3 a health drink packed full of antioxidants, vitamins, green tea, fruits, greens and veggies and sea veggies, minerals, enzymes, and “superfoods” like acai berries and mangosteen berries. It’s kind of like every hyped-up superfood you’ve ever heard of all put into one bottle. Unlike MonaVie, the ingredients and Daily Values for Power of 3 are printed on each bottle, and the list is pretty darn impressive. It has a very high ORAC value. It does not taste awesome, but it’s not terrible, either - it tastes like a liquid Flintstones vitamin – sweet and very tart. But, you do drink it in 1 or 2 ounce shots. Or, you can add it to any fruit juice, which makes it bascially undetectable; that’s my method of choice.
If you’re ill or wanting to lose wieght, you can take 1 or 2 ounces up to 3 times per day. A bottle of Power of 3 won’t last a full 30 days this way (the normal “dose” is 1 ounce per day, and a bottle holds about a month’s worth), but I can attest to a few of the benefits of doing this from personal experience:
1. Food cravings diminish/appetite decreases (because you receive so many nutrients from the drink)
I have always had a big appetite. In fact, food is my drug of choice, as it is for so many of us. Food is engineered now to be plentiful, accessible, and stimulating/addictive with its salt and sugar. I have peronally upped my intake of Power of 3, then had lunch with my co-workers and found I only wanted half of what was on my plate. For me, that is amazing.
2. Digestive health is much better (there are vitamins, etc. that are intended to help your organs produce enough enzymes)
After a stressful pregnancy that was ultimately terminated (it was a heartbreaking time for me), I went on a low carbmeat and cheese diet and lost a bunch of weight. Meanwhile, I delevoped gall stones and ended up in the hospital, having my gall bladder removed. I have had horrible indigestion problems every since, especially when stressed. Food often upsets my stomach and it’s rather unpredictable – some days I can eat junk food and feel fine and sometimes not; sometimes even fruits and veggies give me problems. When I drank Power of 3 before or during meals, I digested my food easily and didn’t have stomach upset (or the other horrible symptoms that go with it).
I don’t know why I’ve become so lazy about taking a few moments to drink something that is so helpful to me, especially somethings that helps me not crave junk and keeps my appetite in check. But in the last few days, I’ve resolved to take up drinking it again and making it part of a regime. I’m going to be taking it with all my meals, at the 2 ounce dose, to help me digest and lost weight.
This will be coupled with some very basic eating concepts. Have you ever heard of the No S diet? It’s not really a diet. It’s pretty straighforward so I won’t be buying the book – No Sweets, No Snacks, No Seconds, except on Saturdays, Sundays, and Special Occastions. Pretty common-sense, right? This is the way we used to eat before the idea of snacking all day long (soup in a can! High fructose corn syrup yogurt in a tube! Pizza in a portable crust!) started being shoved down our throats constantly… pardon the pun.
I have a serious problem with soda and salty things like potato chips, etc. It might be hard at first, but if I can limit these to weekends (in reasonable amounts), then a lot of my weight issues would solve themselves. I am also bad about taking second helpings. My boyfriend has all these same challenges – notsomuch with potato chips as with sweets – so this would help him, too. Desserts would become amazing if we only ate them on weekends, and we’d pick the good ones, not the junk ones that taste of chemicals.
I will also be incorporating aspects of the 3-hour Diet – meaning I will time my meals so that I eat often enough, which will make me desire less junk. I’ve done this before, so I know it works. Eating every three hours, I felt very satisfied, and of course, many times would almost forget to eat. To make healthier food choices, there is just no way around it - we are going to have to take the time to prepare food so that it’s readily available to us when we need it, so that we don’t give in to poor food choices. Again, drinking my Power of 3 will help with that, too.
Finally, I am going to have to start getting some exercize! I always tell myself that I don’t have time, or I’m too tired, but I’m not. I just don’t make time. I am goign to have to schedule some walking into my evenings. My dog would adore me for it, and she deserves to walk, too. This means that I will need to finally put all that I’ve learned about time management into practice, and follow a routine, because in addition to my health needs and my hours at work, I’m working on a Marketing degree at night, too.
I have more to write about, SO much more, but I’m going to have to stop for now and get to work. My next entry will be about my career goals… massage, EFT, being an HSP, passive income, and coaching.
Oh, and if you would like more info about Power of 3, please leave a comment about that; I think you should also be able to send me an email.
Speaking of Power of 3, I really think this Trifecta Attack on my extra weight (diet, exercise, Power of 3) is really going to work wonders. I’m very excited! I will be blogging my progress and doing before/after photos, maybe even youtube videos.
